Dominion Loses Tough Region Game
in Final At Bat
by Josh Williams
Going into today's game against George
Walton, the lead in the region standings was wide open. The winner
of the game would take the top spot heading into spring break. Unfortunatly
the Knights were unable to pull off the upset, as they lost the
game 5-4.
Stephen Taylor got the starting nod for the big game, and pitched
a solid 5 innings. However, the George Walton hitting was too strong
for Taylor, as he allowed a total of five runs. The Knights were
held scorless until the bottom of the 5th inning where they scored
three. Alex West came in relief for Taylor in the 6th and shut down
the Bulldog batters. The Knights were able to add one more run in
the bottom of the of the 6th, and West, once again, held the Bulldogs
scoreless in the 7th. In the bottom of the 7th the Knights were
able to get runners in scoring position, but could not cash in,
as Stephen Taylor grounded out on a hard hit ball to end the game.
The loss gives George Walton possession of first place in the region,
as Dominion drops to third with a 3-2 region record (5-7 overall).
The Knights travel to Macon on Thrusday to take on First Presbyterian,
and go to Mt. Vernon on Friday for another crucial region game.
