Dominion vs. Christian Heritage
by Aaron Nix
This past game was truly exciting for the fans and players alike.Christian Heritage, 4-0 in the past Dominion matches, was leveled for the first time in two years due to graduating Seniors. The time seemed right for Dominion to take capitalize. However, this would not be an easy goal to acquire. The Knights, from tip-off witnessed this. At the tip-off, the Lions' #21 snagged a demanding tip, warning of a tough rebounding job for the big men. Dominion did contain Heritage in the first quarter, outscoring them by 5.
The second quarter proved more difficult. The Knights, in a full court press, were being dominated in the front court. With it, the Knights played slightly more laxidazical press along with a low score all quarter. The Knights scored only 7 points while Heritage scored 23. With another character-based coaching move, Coach Gold did not call even one timeout. The half ended, the Knights down 41-30.
The Knights, as is seen throughout past games, the Knights rallied in the second half. An alternate press proved more efficient for the Knights defense. Things were heating up and then it happened. Senior Captain Andrew Smith came out with a broken nose. Junior Aaron Nix checked into the game, with big shoes to fill. Seven points down, with Senior Center Josh Williams out with four fouls, this Junior guard had to play the Powere Forward positon. Late in the fourth quarter, the tide began to turn. Junior guard Aaron Nix tallied 12 points in a row, all in three-pointers to help push the Knights up to a 9-point win. It is necessary to mention that though Andrew Smith was injured, the ordeal was not too terrible. Thanks be to God for his protection and providence in the late fourth quarter win.
