Heirway at Dominion
by Aaron Nix
If you missed this game, you might have missed the greatest game this year so far. Fantastic offense, defense, scoring, and intensity engulfed what we Knights fans call the Castle. To understand the validity of this game you must know something about HCA. Complete with a line-up of 4 players over 6'7, Heirway came into the home of the Knights.Advantageous? Maybe. Intimidating? The Knights didn't seem to think so. With a barrage of skillful coaching and fast-paced offense, the Knights picked up a tie by the end of the first quarter.
By halftime, the visiting Eagles were up by 8.
The Knights came out with a full head of steam. With a 10-2 run, in mid-quarter, the Knights were tied again. The big men proved harder and harder to defend. Heirway racked up points from second shots. The Knights realized they had to find an alternative method of scoring.
This method was chosen in the fourth quarter. With Knights' rookie Sophomore Gerald Williams, the team scored 18 points in 3-pointers, of which he scored 12. The deficit was cut to four. The Knights were forced to foul out of desperation. The Knights went down to six points behind, of which became the final score. The Knights played tremendous basketball against the Eagles but couldn't pull the win, the final score of the night being 51-57.
