Dominion vs. Augusta
by Aaron Nix

This past Thursday, the Lady Knights played Augusta Prep. This game was fast-paced from first kick-off. The strong offense and deep bench of APDS, however, was a huge blockade for the Lady Knights to overcome. Still, the leadership of the Junior captains along with a close-knit Lady Knights roster, made this game a competitive game to watch.

In the first half, APDS went on a scoring spree, scoring 4 goals. The Knights defense had shifted constantly, moving the Center-MF Summerlin to the defensive side. This, however, could not be attributed to the fault of the goalie, Taylor. Sophomore starting goalie Katie Taylor logged a very impressive 22 saves on the game, blocking over 75% of APDS attempted goals. The Lady Knights played a more steady second half, only allowing one goal during its entirety.

Though this game did not end in the exact manner the Lady Knights might have hoped, this game attributed a great opportunity to view prior mistakes and weaknesses and improve even more. This game will prove to be great practice for the young and inexperienced Lady Knights, as they steadily progress. This progress will remain to be seen in the next game against the Weber School on the 27th, where DCHS hopes to return to a .500 record with 2-2.
