Dominion's Girls Soccer Team Takes Commanding Home Win
by Aaron Nix
This past Monday, the Lady Knights went up against Furtah Prep. After a heartbreaking first game loss to Killian Hills, the Lady Knights have been on a 2-0 win streak, knocking off Shiloh and now, Furtah. With these wins, it is necessary to mention the help and overall scoring of Soph. Dami Laguda, who has scored 4 goals in the last 2 games. With a late game goal in game 2 and a hat trick in game 3, this Lady Knight leads the team in scoring. With a powerful defense led by Junior capt. Gaby Lamas and a mid-field controlled by the second Junior capt., Haylee Summerlin, the Lady Knights have been on an energetic win streak, achieving more than what many expected before the start of the season. The whole roster proved to mesh together in this win. Freshman Kayleigh Murphy recorded 5 blocks in the win and the whole team held Furtah to only 1 point.
The win was made even more special after a halftime prom proposal by Junior Bo Wright, involving him and fellow classmates holding signs in that pursuit. With an answer in the affirmative, Lady Knights soccer fans, as well as some Lady Knights themselves, were filled with an air of cheeriness.
A win and more for the Lady Knights. That's what Dominion athletics is all about. The Knights look to only elevate higher when they play Augusta Prep at home, this upcoming Thursday.
