Lady Knights Win Region
by Jake Moon
Dominion Lady Knights
solidified an incredible regular season with a 6-0 win over cross-town
rivals North Cobb Christian on Tuesday. With that win in the bag,
the Lady Knights remained both undefeated in the Region and were
never scored on by any Region opponents. The Lady Knights outscored
Region opponents 79-0 and had 33 shots per game compared to 2.5
shots per game, in the 8 region wins. These incredible stats explains
the 12-2-2 record, including 11 shutouts, and being the first Region
champs in Dominion girls soccer history.
Individually, the senior
players are by far the strongest in Dominion’s history. Striker
Alex Russ-Stefancic is the highest scorer, not only in GISA, but
in all of GHSA, with 41 goals. She has been accepted to the Naval
Academy, and plans to attend Petty School before matriculating to
the Naval Academy. Kelsey Howard, Dominion’s second highest
in goals and assists, has signed to Queen’s Academy in North
Carolina and will most likely get playing time at outside-mid. Senior
A.J. Baker signed to V.M.I. in April. Defender Erin Summerlin is
being scouted by Kennesaw State on Tuesday. State Playoffs start
on Tuesday at home against Southland at 4:00
