Dominion tennis team: A strong source of seniors
by Sonya Leckman

This tennis season is a good one with some very strong senior players. Five out of the six seniors have been together all four years of high school playing tennis with each other and encouraging each other these past years and watching as the team grows stronger each year. This is the last year of GISA sports for Dominion, and the seniors are going to make it their best.

The six senior players of Dominion tennis are the following people: Matthew Keyt, Matthew Jackson, Alex Pedigo, Stephen Van Gorp, Zach Taylor, and Sarah Stowell. Matt Keyt started off a little rough on the tennis courts his freshman year and found a love for the game which led him to work hard his sophomore season and continue to excel his junior year. Matt Jackson started out strong his freashman year playing doubles with Stephen Van Gorp and went to states. Sophomore year, the duo returned to their spot of glory in the state tournement, but couldn't handle the upperclassmen pitted against them. Matt Jackson was named to the all-region team as a sophomore, and continued his winnings with Van Gorp junior year. Alex Pedigo was familiar with tennis freshman year and found himself playing doubles, which continued sophomore year with Blake Neal until they were knocked out of the region tournement. Stephen Van Gorp was a strong player his freshman year taking third place in regions with Matt Jackson. Their number one doubles team continued on to win the region tournement sophomore year and got knocked out of states junior year. Sarah Stowell came into Dominion tennis as an experienced player her freshman year and played number two singles. Sophomore year, she moved up to the number one singles and came in third place in regions only to be knocked out of states. Last, but not least is the "new kid" Zach Taylor. He is a fresh face here at Dominion and has become a strong part of the team, playing second doubles with Stephen Van Gorp.

These seniors are a strong force to be felt on the tennis courts and opposing teams should watch out for the Dominion seniors.
