Dominion has a good showing at first
region match
by Stephen Van Gorp
Dominion Christian had their first home
region match of the season on Tuesday against George Walton, and
had very good results. The boys team had a 3-2 win, but the girls
had a well fought 2-3 loss. The guys had a very good showing from
their number one singles player, Michael Besch, who played a great
match against a senior from George Walton and captured the victory
at 10-4. Also, Austin Gentry played a great match and had a 10-3
victory at number two singles. Matthew Jackson and Stephen Van Gorp
had a fairly difficult match at number one doubles, but made their
way back to win it 10-7. Although the Knights suffered two losses
at two doubles and singles, they were still able to capture their
first region victory of the season and have also built up confidence
in themselves as a team to go all the way.
The Lady Knights Tennis Team also had
great matches on Tuesday. One of the biggest thrillers was Charley
Clyburn’s comeback from 1-7 to steal the victory at 11-9.
However this victory, combined with the number one doubles victory
for the Knights, wasn’t enough to win the match, but the girls
have gotten a lot more experience and are now better motivated to
go on with the rest of their region matches with a persevering attitude.
