Coach Brett Edwards has coached the girls and boys programs since 2002. Coach Edwards has most enjoyed the comraderie of the team and the ability to relate with the students outside of the classroom. He counts it a joy to help his runners achieve their personal goals that will ultimately help them achieve future goals in life. He truly believes that the persistence and perseverance learned in the sport of long distance running can be used throughout their lives for the honor and glory of their Lord and Savior.
In his 6 year of coaching, the girls team has won one region title (2003) and the boys have won two region titles (2006 and 2007). The boys program won the GISA AAA state title in 2007. This was the second state title for the Dominion Christian athletic program and the first state title for a boys team. The girls team top finish was a 4th place in the 2003 state meet. Coach Edwards was named girls region 1AAA coach of the year in 2003 and boys region 1AAA coach of the year in 2006 and 2007.
Personally, Coach Edwards graduated from Georgia Tech in 2001 with a B.S. in Management. He ran at Newport High School (Bellevue, WA) and achieved personal best marks of 4:34 (1 mile), 9:55 (2 mile) and 16:30 (5k). |
