State Meet 2007

Macon, GA – Hard work has finally paid off for Dominion Cross Countrty. After an outstanding performance winning the region championship, the Dominion Cross Country team was excited going entering this past weekend's state championship meet. The Cross Country team lived up to expectations in winning the first cross country state championship in school history, and the first Boys' state title in the school's 10 year history. Region Champion Nathan Bennett followed up a terrific region's race with a triumphant victory, becoming the individual AAA state champion with a time of 16:41; a school record. Chris Svideskiss suprised many with his second place finish with a blazing time of 16:47; over 40 seconds faster than his previous personal record. Clinton Millwood and Zak Metz also made the all-state team, with finishes of 7th and 9th respectively. Daniel Riess, Joseph Moore, and Sam Kuehl also had impressive showings with finishes of 16th, 22nd, and 28th. The Boys' varsity team finished with a total of 35 points, crushing second place by more than double. Also noteworthy was the team average time, 17:29, the lowest average in the program's history.

The girls team followed up a very solid region perfromance with another solid performance in the state champiosnhip. This race again showed the team menatlity that the girls' team strives to achieve. All seven firls finished between 43rd and 63rd, and they finished 8th overall as a team. With 4 of the top 7 guys retruning and 6 of the top 7 girls returing, the team hopes to continue their success next year in GHSA.
